From the root ن و ر (n-w-r) whence نَار (nār, “fire”), because quicklime, calcium oxide, also known as burnt lime, and حِجَارَة مَشْوِيَّة (ḥijāra mašwiyya, literally “burnt stones”), is produced by thermolysis of calcium-rich material.
