From Proto-Turkic *yïm-ĺča-k (“soft, mild”).[1] Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰘𐰢𐱁𐰴‎ (yïmšaq),[2] Turkish yumuşak, Crimean Tatar yımşaq, etc.
