From Proto-Finnic *lähe- (compare Estonian läheda (adjective), Livonian ležgõl (adverb), Livvi ľähekkäh (adverb) and Votic lʹähe (adverb)), probably from Proto-Uralic *läse[1] (compare Eastern Mari лишне (ĺišńe), Tundra Nenets ет’ (yet’) and possibly Hungarian le-).
