Etymology

From Middle High German hundert, borrowed or influenced by Old Saxon hunderod (compare Old High German hund), all from Proto-Germanic *hundaradą. The native form is hongert, that with -nd- is influenced by Standard German hundert. (Compare also dausend alongside duusend.)
