From Ottoman Turkish آقندی (aḳındı, aḳıntı, a current of running water, stream)[1][2] or آقینتی (aḳıntı), from Ottoman Turkish آقمق (aḳmaḳ, to flow, to glide, to trickle), from Proto-Turkic *ak- (to flow)[3], morphologically ak- + -ın + -tı.
