Proto-Finnic
Etymology
From earlier *tilta, borrowed from Proto-Baltic *tílˀta (compare Latvian tilts, Lithuanian tiltas). A secondary meaning "floor" is found in Karelian, Ingrian, Votic and eastern dialects of Finnish, but this appears to be a late innovation.
