Etymology
From 𐎷𐎰𐎼 (mi-θ-r /Miθraʰ/, “Mithra”) + *upastah (“servant, helper”),[1][2] comapare 𐎢𐎱𐎿𐎫𐎠 (u-p-s-t-a /upastā/, “help, assistance”), Sanskrit उपस्ति (úpasti, “subordinate, subject”).
