Possibly from Proto-Germanic *rΕhsniz, possibly from *rΕkijanΔ (βto attend to, care forβ) + *-(s)niz (nominal suffix), literally, βprotected thingβ, though the form would have to be analogical (one would expect *πππΊπ½π).[1]
