Etymology
From the same Proto-Indo-Aryan root of indeterminate structure (likely something similar to *seh₁- or *sh₁-yé-) underlying प्रसिति (prasiti, “onward rush, cast”), with a meaning of "hurling, casting". Related to Hittite [script needed] (šije-, “to press, shoot”); whether or not Proto-Indo-European *seh₁- (“to insert, to sow”) is related is uncertain.
