1. (A state of mind, an emotion): joy, happiness, glee.
   • 1 Kings 1:40, with translation of the King James Version:

     ‏וַיַּעֲלוּ כָל־הָעָם אַֽחֲרָיו וְהָעָם מְחַלְּלִים בַּחֲלִלִים וּשְׂמֵחִים שִׂמְחָה גְדוֹלָה וַתִּבָּקַע הָאָרֶץ בְּקוֹלָם׃‎‎
