Cognate with Old Uyghur [script needed] (bešik, cradle)[1]; Lua error in Module:utilities at line 142: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'h' (a nil value), Kazakh бесік (besık), Kyrgyz бешик (beşik), Uzbek beshik, Uyghur بۆشۈك (böshük), Azerbaijani beşik, Turkish beşik, Khakas пизік (pizìk), Tofa беӌик, Yakut биһик (bihik, cradle); Chuvash пелче (pelč̬e, swaddling clothes), also Hungarian bölcső (cradle) (an Onogur borrowing).
