Related to Estonian ätt, Votic ätä and dialectal Lua error in Module:utilities at line 142: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'h' (a nil value).

Perhaps ultimately a borrowing from a West Germanic language: compare Alemannic German Ätti and Bavarian Ätt.
