Vikidia is a wiki-based collaborative online encyclopedia for 8 to 13-year-old children. It exists in eleven languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Catalan, Basque, Sicilian, Greek, Armenian, Occitan and German.
Vikidia runs on wiki software called MediaWiki.
History
Vikidia was founded by Mathias Damour on November 17, 2006. A few days later, on November 17, it was made public in French.
