The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a children's book by L. Frank Baum. The pictures were drawn by W. W. Denslow. The book was published in 1900.

The story is about a little girl named Dorothy. She is swept away from her Kansas home by a tornado. She lands in the magical land of Oz. She makes friends with a scarecrow, a tin woodman, and a cowardly lion. After killing a wicked witch, she returns to her Kansas home.

Many sequels were written. The book has been the basis for many movie and television productions. The most famous movie is the 1939 musical movie, The Wizard of Oz starring Judy Garland.
