Euro coins and banknotes.
Euro is a currency used by 19 countries in the European Union. It was first used in 1999 as a replacement of some local European currencies.
- Members of the Eurozone on 1 January 1999 : Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain
- Joined since then : Greece, Slovenia, Cyprus, Malta, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania
Moreover, the euro is used also in 6 additional European countries which are not members of the Eurozone: Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City, Montenegro, Kosovo.
