Peter I of Russia, also called Peter the Great (1672-1725), was a Russian tsar from 1682 to 1721 and a Russian emperor from 1721 until his death.

He was the founder of the Russian Empire and built the city that would be the capital city of the country for centuries: Saint Petersburg.
