"Little Black Sambo" is a children's book by Helen Bannerman. It was published in October 1899. In the late 20th century, the book was deemed racially offensive. It has undergone various revisions.
Story
Sambo is an Indian boy who receives several new pieces of clothing from his parents. Tigers take the clothes, and turn themselves into butter racing around a tree dressed in them. The butter is used to make pancakes for Sambo.
