Japanese macaques in a hot spring near Nagano, Japan
The Japanese macaque (scientific name: Macaca fuscata) is a monkey. These monkeys only live in Japan. Except for humans, it is the northernmost-dwelling primate in the world.
Japanese macaques are well adapted to cold, and have learned to warm themselves by bathing in hot springs during the winter.
