Herman Hesse

Hermann Karl Hesse (July 2, 1877 – August 9, 1962) was a German poet, writer and painter. Hesse was born in Germany, but later moved to Switzerland and adopted the Swiss nationality. Hesse is one of the most well-known German writers; he wrote Steppenwolf, Siddharta and Beneath the Wheel.

He received the Nobel Literature Prize in 1946.
