Henry I of England
Henry I of England (1068-1135) was king of England (1100-1135) and Duke of Normandy (1106-1135).
He was the fourth and youngest son of William the Conqueror. His only son drowned in 1120. Henry extracted an oath of loyalty to his daughter Matilda from the barons in 1127.
His death was followed by the outbreack of civil war because his nephew Stephen seized the throne from Matilda.
