American Gothic is an oil on beaverboard painting by Grant Wood. It was painted in 1930. The painting measures 74.3 cm × 62.4 cm (29¼ in × 24½ in). It hangs in the Art Institute of Chicago. It is one of the most recognizable works of 20th-century American art and one of the most parodied.
